Growing Indigenous Tourism in Queensland Fund

The Honourable Kate Jones MP, Minister for Innovation and Tourism Industry Development and Minister for Cross River Rail, has officially opened the Growing Indigenous Tourism in Queensland Fund.

The Fund aims to support the development of new and enhanced high quality Indigenous tourism products and experiences that will encourage high value travellers to visit Queensland.

The Fund includes two streams for which Aboriginal Corporations, Traditional Owner groups, Prescribed Body Corporates, Indigenous tourism businesses, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Councils can apply:

  • Category 1 (Develop) to progress the development of a concept for an Indigenous tourism product or experience through a feasibility study, business case or similar assessment process. Funding of up to $25 000 is available for eligible applicants.
  • Category 2 (Deliver) to enhance Indigenous tourism by enhancing or delivering a product or experience or improving/developing built infrastructure and facilities. Minimum funding of $250 000 and maximum funding of $1 million is available for eligible applicants with at least a 30 per cent matched funding requirement (see guidelines for further information on the matched funding requirement).

Eligible applicants need to complete and submit their Expression of Interest Form for either Category 1 (Develop) and Category 2 (Deliver) via SmartyGrants on the Department of Innovation and Tourism Industry Development’s website at https://www.ditid.qld.gov.au/ or email their Expression of Interest Form to indigenoustourism@ditid.qld.gov.au
