For full voting (property/business/employer) membership,  in order to join Accommodation Australia (National) you must first join the State Branch of the Australian Hotels Association (“AHA”) in which your business is located.   Please call the number or contact the email below and ask for the membership team who will be happy to assist you.

The rule governing membership of Accommodation Australia (National) are set out in Rule 49 which reads:

  1. A member of the Australian Hotels Association shall be eligible for membership of Accommodation Australia (National) and recognised as an Accommodation Australia (National) member if that member:
    1. Is a financial member of the Australian Hotels Association in accordance with the Part A Rules or the applicable Branch Rules for that member; and
    2. Is a member attached to the Accommodation Hotels Division of the relevant Branch.
  2. A member of Accommodation Australia (National) shall not be required to pay any fees to Accommodation Australia (National) for membership. However, the Branch of the Australian Hotels Association to which that Accommodation Australia (National) member is attached shall be required to pay capitation fees to Accommodation Australia (National) in respect of all Accommodation Australia (National) members in that Branch as prescribed by Rule 60.
  3. Notwithstanding the terms of Sub-Rule (i) of this Rule, an applicant for membership of the Australian Hotels Association who or which is eligible for membership of Accommodation Australia (National) may, at the time of making application to join the Australian Hotels Association, specify in writing that the applicant declines membership of Accommodation Australia (National), in which case that applicant will not become or be treated or be recognised as a member of Accommodation Australia (National). However, a member of the Australian Hotels Association who or which has declined membership of Accommodation Australia (National) pursuant to this Sub Rule may at any time thereafter apply for membership of Accommodation Australia (National) and be admitted to such membership, without additional fee, if eligible for membership of Accommodation Australia (National) at that time.
  4. When a Branch receives an application for membership of the Australian Hotels Association from an applicant that the Branch believes is eligible to be a member of Accommodation Australia (National) that Branch shall ensure that the applicant is advised of its said eligibility and also advised of its right to decline membership of Accommodation Australia (National) if it wishes
  5. The representative of a member of Accommodation Australia (National) shall be the person appointed by that member from time to time as its or their representative in that member’s Branch, pursuant to the Rules of that Branch or the Australian Hotels Association Rules, as the case may be.
  6. A member of Accommodation Australia (National) may resign from membership of Accommodation Australia (National) upon giving fourteen days’ written notice to the Secretary of Accommodation Australia (National) and to its Branch.
  7. A member of Accommodation Australia (National) who or which ceases to be eligible to be a member of Accommodation Australia (National) shall cease to be a member of Accommodation Australia (National) upon the expiry of seven days after notice of such ineligibility is provided to that member by the Secretary/Treasurer of Accommodation Australia (National) provided that Accommodation Australia (National) may extend this period by up to twenty-eight days and may revoke the notice if the member concerned satisfies Accommodation Australia (National) that it remains eligible for membership of Accommodation Australia (National).
