25 February Qantas confirms it will proceed with Project Sunrise February 25, 2020 By Jenny Le General QANTAS, Project Sunshine 0 Qantas is now indicating it will proceed with Project Sunrise. The go/no-go decision on the A350-1000 order is due to be formally made by the end of March 2020, pending the outcome of negotiations with the pilots' union over wages and conditions for being in command of these marathon flights. However, Qantas is now indicating it will push ahead with Project Sunrise with or without the union's support: bypassing the union to strike a deal directly with individual Qantas pilots or, if necessary, creating a non-union “employment entity” of newly-hired specialist crews dedicated to the Sunrise flights.
