ATHOC operates nationally with an elected board representing a range of membership categories covering resorts, timeshare owners, developers and promoters, marketers, exchange companies and organisations providing professional advice to the timeshare industry.

ATHOC can also provide advice, support and information to timeshare owners and consumers considering the purchase of timeshare.

A key role of ATHOC is to ensure that its membership – the industry – continually fosters a high standard of ethics and adherence to industry best practice. All Members are required to abide by a Code of Ethics and a Code of Practice.

ATHOC has a strategic alliance with the Accommodation Australia (AA) which is the key national body for the Accommodation sector in Australia. AA provide the administration, secretarial and lobbying support for ATHOC.

About timeshare

The word ‘timeshare’ comes from the concept of holding shares in time. Instead of buying a holiday home outright, or paying over $1,000 for a week’s stay in a hotel somewhere, timeshare lets multiple people purchase part of a timeshare property in exchange for a fixed period of annual usage time.
